As we gear up for the upcoming season, preparations become pivotal. Coaches handle a variety of pre-season responsibilities, from setting up the field to ensuring their team is well-equipped. To facilitate this crucial role and ensure a successful start to the season, we've compiled some tips to help every coach prepare effectively.

PRE-SEASON CHECKLIST
  1. Equipment Check
During the offseason, items like balls, cones, and protective gear can easily get misplaced. Checking beforehand to ensure everything is in place and in good condition can give you a head start on the season by allowing you to locate lost items or reorder them in time.
  2. Uniforms
Check inventory of Home and Away uniforms and what you need to order for the season.  Keep in mind that custom JL Sports brand uniforms have a turnaround time of 4-6 weeks and 10-15 business days for apparel and stock-decorated uniforms. Getting started on your team gear early will ensure your team is competition-ready on time.
  3. Budget
The beginning of the season can involve a variety of expenses that can add up quickly, so reviewing and organizing based on the available budget is crucial. Communicating with the person in charge of the finances and planning fundraisers for the season is a great way to get on top of things and set yourself up for success.
  4. Spirit Packs/Practice Gear
Spirit packs are a great way to get your team feeling ready for the season. These curated collections not only build unity, but also provide practical benefits for both athletes and coaching staff. Spirit packs can include items like team apparel, accessories, and other essentials they could need throughout the season. Consider adding backpacks or duffle bags, hats, socks, water bottles, rally towels, wristbands, and decals.
  5. Fanwear Store
Creating merch that fans can wear to show support for your team will boost team spirit and build a sense of community. When fans wear gear with you team's colors and logos, they become walking ambassadors, spreading team spirit wherever they go. To make the most of fan gear, consider offering a variety of items to cater to different preferences. From classic t-shirts and hoodies to trendy hats and accessories, make sure there's something for everyone.
